Some very sad news to the Perth music industry occurred this week when Krystal Maynard, guitarist for now Melbourne-based Perth- bred rockers The Jacknives, was diagnosed with cancer.

This is a horrible thing to happen to a very popular and much loved member of the Australian music scene. Krystal will be undergoing treatment soon so to try and assist her and her family in some small way and hopefully just eliminate a bit of extra stress, the Perth music community has got together to put on a massive fundraiser gig for her in the hope of raising as much cash as possible.

This will be taking place this Sunday May 31 at the Hydey Back Room at 2pm. It’s a public holiday the next day so all the more reason to get down and enjoy some of Perth’s best acts. Which acts you ask? The Kill Devil Hills, Schvendes, The Painkillers, Kuillotines, Capital City, Rocket To Memphis, The Hayley Beth Love Affliction & Bible Bashers plus DJs Cutter, Laith Tyranny and Rinnaz, plus giveaways galore courtesy of Planet Video and Hold Fast Tattoo!

The above text was taken from Capital City's MySpace page, but on a more personal note I know Krystal and have posted this to raise awareness to a different sub-culture. You might not be interested in punk or rock music or ever heard of any of the bands performing but I encourage you to make your way to the Hydey on Sunday and donate a bit of money, even if you don't intend on sticking around for the show, anything helps.
